Smans 3D mascotte
80th birthday
Smans has been a leading player in the Benelux for fifty years in the field of cable and wire processing machines and electronics production. For the founder’s eightieth anniversary LX Concept was given the special request to create a unique 3D figurine: a Smans mascot. From digital modelling to 3D printing and finishing the figure every detail was crafted with care to create a personal and symbolic gift that honours the company’s history and character.
3D prototype to scale
As a first step we created a prototype at half of the final size and in a single color. This allowed us to visualise the design clearly and make the idea tangible for the client.
A scale model in 3D offers an important advantage. It gives the client the chance to actually hold the figure, assess the shapes and give targeted feedback before we produce the final design. This makes the creation process faster, more accurate and far more efficient.
Final print
For the final model we first performed a color match using the brand colors and the available PLA filaments. This allowed us to align the shades as accurately as possible. We also simulated the print time and material usage along with the load on the printer. This way we could create an exact and transparent cost calculation for the client.
Then it was time for the real production.
The result is a personal and refined 3D figurine twenty centimetres tall.
“Just received the SuperSmans, it is really great!
And thank you for the bottle of wine as well.
If we want to do another 3D project in the future
we know where to find you.☺️”
