Lotte recently joined our team as a graphic designer \ud83c\udf89. She grew up in Sint Katelijne Waver and has been living in Brussels for five years. Her journey started with a Bachelor\u2019s degree in Landscape and Garden Architecture, but she was soon drawn to the world of visual storytelling. She then completed both a Bachelor\u2019s and Master\u2019s degree in Audiovisual Arts, specialising in animation film.<\/strong><\/p>\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t

What specifically attracted you to LX Concept, and what made you decide to take the step to join?<\/h2>\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t

“In addition to the engaging projects, I\u2019m also drawn to the dynamic of a close knit team. If your design style were a dish, what would be on the plate?<\/h2>\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t

“If I have carte blanche, I enjoy creating designs that aren\u2019t for everyone (young, colourful and a little eerie), but always grounded in technical knowledge. If I had to compare it to food, I\u2019d say I like experimenting with spices and less obvious ingredients, maybe a beetroot pasta with feta and mint (highly recommended if you like beetroot \ud83d\ude0b). At the same time, I\u2019m just as happy adapting to someone else\u2019s taste and creating things that appeal to a broader audience.<\/em>“<\/div><\/div><\/div><\/div><\/div>\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t

You can invite one designer from history for a workday at LX. Who would you invite, and what would you ask?<\/h3>\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t

\u201cI would love to invite Susan Kare, the pioneer who designed the visual language of the first Macintosh at Apple. I\u2019m fascinated by how she gave the digital world a human face through iconic typography and minimalist symbols, such as the \u2018Happy Mac\u2019, the Command symbol, and typefaces like Chicago and Geneva. Her ability to capture complex functions in a single powerful image remains a great source of inspiration.<\/em>\u201d<\/p>

\u201cBecause I recently designed a typeface myself for a short film, I\u2019m very curious about her specific thought process. My own interest in typography has grown strongly in recent years, and I would love to ask how she maintains the balance between aesthetics and functionality when developing a completely new font.<\/em>\u201d<\/p><\/div><\/div><\/div><\/div><\/div>\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t

If you could permanently abolish one design rule that everyone treats as sacred, which would it be, and why is it time to let it go?<\/h3>\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t

\n\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t
\u201cI like to know and master the rules, because they provide a strong foundation. What is the most unexpected place where you\u2019ve ever found design inspiration?<\/h2>\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t

“For my master film, I drew inspiration from an unconventional medium. I started working with living bacteria and fungi because they aligned with the theme of the film. I experimented with the possibilities of this medium in the VUB lab. It was a very interesting experience that influenced every aspect of the film. But I\u2019m glad the process is over, because it all smelled quite a bit\u2026<\/em>“<\/div><\/div><\/div><\/div><\/div><\/div><\/div><\/div><\/div>\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t
